How to Cook Brown Sugar- and Pineapple-Glazed Ham

What to expect when you prepare this recipe for pineapple-glazed ham is summarized as follows:

  • Cut the pineapple into rings and place it on a roasting pan with the ham.
  • To keep the rings on the ham, use toothpicks.
  • The ham has to bake for 30 minutes.
  • In the microwave, prepare the glaze.
  • After basting the ham with half of the glaze, bake for an additional 30 minutes.
  • Then bake for an additional 30 minutes after brushing the ham with the leftover glaze.

How Long to Cook Pineapple-Glazed Ham

Your pineapple-glazed ham should be thoroughly cooked after about 90 minutes of total cooking time in an oven set to 325 degrees F. The thickest section of the ham has a temperature of 140 degrees F (60 degrees C) on a meat thermometer.

Ingredients

  • 1 (6 pound) fully-cooked, bone-in ham
  • 1 fresh pineapple
  • 2 (6 ounce) cans pineapple juice
  • 1 cup brown sugar

Directions

Step 1

Gather all ingredients.

Step 2

Preheat the oven to 325 degrees F (165 degrees C). Place ham, cut-side down, into a roasting pan.

Step3

Cut skin off pineapple with a sharp  cutter and slice off any brown spots or skin left before. Cut pineapple into 1/ 2- inch-thick rings and use a round  knife to remove cores. Leg rings onto ham with toothpicks

Step 4

Bake ham in the preheated oven for 30 minutes.

Step 5

While the ham is baking, combine the pineapple juice and brown sugar in a microwave-safe bowl. Heat in the microwave on medium power until the glaze boils and thickens slightly. Be careful as the icing will be sticky and very hot.

Step 6

Pour half of the glaze evenly over the ham and pineapple rings. Bake the ham for another 30 minutes, then pour the remaining glaze over the ham.

Step 7

Continue baking for an additional 30 to 60 minutes, until a meat thermometer inserted into the thickest part of the ham registers 140°F (60°C).
